Wrap it up, we'll take it. Wraps -- a sandwich rolled up in a tortilla-- have
become popular in much of the rest of the country. But they're still hard to
come by in Acadiana. That's why Roly Poly --wraps are it's specialty-- is such
a find. The restaurant, which does a booming lunch biz catering to Oil Center
professionals and UL students, has 50 combo wraps and about 20 others that
rotate in as specials, says manager Tony Bailey. On any given day, there could
be a dozen choices designated as "Sun Rolys,"or low-fat wraps. The "Chicken
Popper," for example, includes light cream cheese, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos,
and fat-free rach dressing, all wrapped in a wheat tortilla and heated on a
sandwich press. The menu also has a "Roll Your Own" section, from
which customers can shoose their own healthy fillings, like lean deli meats,
fresh spinach, and other veggies. Roly's also provides reduced-fat mayo, sauces,
and cheeses. Calorie counters are especially welcome, notes Bailey. "People
love it."
