Take Out Food Finds - Sun Sentinel

CORAL SPRINGS: Roly Poly Sandwiches is the new kid on the block, with a few ideas on how to make a sandwich memorable. But first, you have to figure out where to start sampling the 58 or so choices.

Here, they offer wraps: white and wheat, hot and cold, plain and fancy, stuffed and rolled with sliced steak, roast beef, pork, ham, turkey, chicken, seafood, cheese, veggies, dressings, spreads, fruits, nuts and anything else you could want.

You can buy half a wrap or a whole one, or mix and match. There's an interesting take on the classic Monte Cristo called a Hickory Cristo ($3.85 per half; $6.25 for a whole wrap). It's filled with smoked turkey breast, brie, Swiss cheese, spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes, then grilled to a crisp golden brown and served with a side of creamy fresh dill horseradish sauce.

Want an ethnic slant? Try a Delhi wrap ($3.65 half; $5.85 whole) with curried chicken salad, Swiss cheese, bacon, avocado, pineapple, lettuce, sprouts and mango chutney.

There are about 12 lower-fat rolys with catchy names such as chicken popper, buffalo slim, the guilt-free gobbler and the cider house melt. You can also buy a box lunch ($5.95 for a half sandwich; $7.95 whole) that gives you a choice of sandwiches, a bag of chips or coleslaw, potato or pasta salad and a chocolate chip cookie. There are assorted combos and kid's meals, too.

Roly Poly Sandwiches, 2866 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, 954-341-6744, is in The Walk about a 1/2 mile north of Royal Palm Boulevard on the west side of the street.
