New eatery to feature rolled sandwiches
5/3/2003

MASON CITY — Roly Poly, an Atlanta-based restaurant chain featuring sandwiches rolled up in tortilla shells, will open its first Iowa store on Wednesday, May 28, in Monroe Plaza, west of ShopKo.

The business is co-managed by Kari and Jeremy McMannes, and Kari’s brother, Jeff Dixon and his wife, Michelle, all of Mason City.

It will employ about 10 people. The 1,200-square foot store will seat 30.

Roly Poly, started in 1996 in Atlanta by Linda Wolf and Julie Reid, features 53 varieties of “roll-up” sandwiches ordered off a menu.

There are more than 130 stores nationwide — mostly in the South.

Kari McMannes said the Mason City store will feature carry-out and catering.

“It’s really a fast-growing thing,” she said. “And we’re excited because this is our hometown. I’m looking forward to bringing a unique product to Mason City.”
