The ‘Roly Poly Sandwiches’ shop in Parker Square is as unique and fun to visit
as their name implies. A different concept in sandwiches, ‘Roly Poly Sandwiches’ are
delicious, nutritious and fun to eat! From an incredible variety of vegetables,
meats, cheeses, nuts and seeds, you can choose ingredients sure to please your
taste buds. Then make a decision about a wheat or white tortilla type wrap and
the friendly staff at ‘Roly Poly’ will make it up fresh just for you! You can
even choose from an enticing variety of dressings and spreads to top off your
creation. And for those who just can’t decide, the menu is chocked full of suggestions
from vegetarian to seafood. Sandwiches can be either grilled or cold and a low
fat menu is also available.
Linus and Roni Cook opened ‘Roly Poly Sandwiches’ in June of 2003. Nestled in
the heart of Parker Square, it is one of only 186 stores in the nation. Roni
and Linus never owned a restaurant before, but when Linus was furloughed from
American Airlines, they began to think about what they could do together. The
result is this delightful shop with a crisp, colorful, friendly atmosphere where
families and friends can come chat, grab a boxed lunch or a whole plate of sandwiches
to take to any event.
We tried a variety of sandwiches and every single one was absolutely delicious!
They are open for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week, so stop by and check it out.
Call ahead for a quick pick up or have them cater your next event. They provide
free local delivery with a $15.00 minimum order. Call 972-899-5111 for more information.
AND if you are really doing some clever eating, after getting a sandwich at ‘Roly
Poly’, take a stroll down the sidewalk to ‘Sweet Italy Cafe’ for dessert! Featuring
Italian Style Ice Cream called Gelato, ‘Sweet Italy Cafe’ is a treat you don’t
want to miss. Jeff and Megan Condrack first tasted Gelato on a visit to Las Vegas.
Then, they went to Italy to check out the competition! The result was this very
clean and inviting little shop where everything is made fresh daily and the service
is excellent. There are over 64 flavors to choose from and most people report
they are better than what they’ve
had in Europe!
Even if you can’t have dairy, ‘Sweet Italy’ has something for you. Their fruit
flavors are water based, made with fresh fruit and contain no dairy products!
The cream flavors are dairy-based and made with whole milk and heavy cream, but
have less than 8 grams of fat and 130-170 calories. New selections are available
every week, so plan to visit often, we do! Call 972-899-4140 for more information.
Both of these little restaurants are big additions to Flower Mound because they
are unique and have something for everyone. And maybe even more important, the
owners are almost always in the shop to greet you. So take the family and start
another tradition. And hey, if it feels like home, that’s okay. Neighborhood
shops are supposed to be that way.
